What Benefits Have They Been Promised?

Hyderabad: In a huge boost to the plans of CBN, after dilly-dallying months, the Andhra Pradesh secretariat employees have finally agreed to shift to the temporary capital in Amaravati by June 15, top AP officials and employee unions jointly said on Monday.

Another 54,000 employees working in various directorates and commissionerates will move to the Amaravati by the end of August.

This was decided at a meeting convened by chief secretary SP Tucker and municipal administration minister P Narayana with representatives of employee unions. This is indeed a positive sign for AP’s growth and development. At the same time, various concessions must have been given them in order to win their approval.

The government should also make public what and if any concessions have been given to the employees to make them shift from Hyderabad. They have already been given fitment of 43% despite AP facing a huge revenue deficit.

The last thing the State needs is another financial package to them for moving to Amaravathi when it should be their duty in the first place.
