With hardly 15 months left for the assembly elections in AP and an election atmosphere is gradually building up with the marathon padayatra by YSRCP president Jagan for the next six months, TDP president and CM Chandrababu has started taking out one sop after the other to appease different sections of people.
The decision to provide five per cent reservations for Kapus in education and employment is one such big measure to appease the Kapu community.
Though there might not be an immediate benefit to the Kapus since it has to be ratified by the Centre, Naidu hopes that it would definitely fetch some mileage to the TDP by turning the Kapus in its favour.
He is also expected to enhance the allocation of Kapu corporation in the coming budget and take up pro-Kapu measures in a big way.
Apart from neutralising the impact of Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, it would also help gain the support of power star Pawan Kalyan in the next elections.
There was yet another sop announced by Naidu, which largely went unnoticed by the media.
It was the resolution passed by the assembly seeking to include Boyas and Valmikis in the STs.
It might not be totally rejected by the Centre, as the population of STs has come down after the bifurcation and so the existing quota can allow their inclusion of these two communities.
Naidu hopes that it would fetch immense benefit to the TDP in Rayalaseema, especially in Anantapur and Kurnool districts, where there is a larger population of Boyas and Valmikis.
The next announcement from Naidu could be unemployment allowance, which is expected to come into force as a New Year gift, party sources said.
