If the reports doing rounds in the social media are to be believed, prominent Kapu leader and former MLA from Vijayawada Vangaveeti Radhakrishna is going to take on firebrand YSR Congress party leader and Andhra Pradesh minister for civil supplies Kodali Venkateshwara Rao alias Nani from Gudivada in the next assembly elections in 2024.
According to these reports, Vangaveeti has decided to shift his base from Vijayawada (East) to Gudivada, which has sizeable number of Kapu voters.
For the last few days, he has been holding a series of meetings with Kapu community leaders in Gudivada to prepare the ground for his contest in the next elections.
It is learnt Vangaveeti has a number of friends in the Kapu community in Gudivada and they have invited him to fight the elections from there.
They reportedly told him that only he would be able to take on Kodali, who has been ruling the roost in Gudivada constituency.
Vangaveeti reportedly agreed to their suggestion and has started making the preparations for contesting from Gudivada.
He told his associates that he would not quit the TDP but would convince the party leadership to give him the ticket from Gudivada.
He reportedly told them that he would not take any risk by jumping into another party at this juncture.
“I have faced enough debacles in politics and hereafter, I will indulge in matured and responsible politics. I will take forward the legacy of Vangaveeti Ranga,” he is learnt to have said.
Apparently, Vangaveeti wants to make efforts to attract the weaker sections, for which Ranga had strived a lot when he was live.
“I am confident of winning the support of the weaker sections. I will stand by those who have been supporting me all these years,” he said.
The Kapu leader has been attending every small function or meeting conducted by the Kapu community leaders in Gudivada for the last few weeks.
“He is going all out to consolidate the Kapu vote bank in the constituency,” sources close to him said.
