TJS Gets Seven Seats, Wants One More!

TJS Gets Seven Seats, Wants One More!

In spite of hectic lobbying and intense psychological pressure, the Congress party is learnt to have offered just seven seats to Telangana Jana Samithi headed by Prof M Kodandaram.

The constituencies that were allotted to TJS are: Warangal East, Malkajgiri, Siddipet, Dubbak, Medak, Ramagundam and Chandrayangutta.

The list was given to TJS leaders on Monday night and they said they would get back to the Congress party after internal discussions.

Kodandaram reportedly told the Congress leadership that of the seven, Chandrayangutta is as good as lost, because it is an MIM bastion where its floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi is contesting. Though he is happy with the remaining six seats, he reportedly asked for one more seat.

It could be from among three constituencies – Miryalguda, Station Ghanpur and Asifabad. Since Miryalguda and Station Ghanpur are the Congress strongholds, the party might not agree for the same and if the Delhi gives approval, it can leave Asifabad to the TJS, sources said.

Already Congress party has announced it is going to contest in 95 assembly seats, leaving the remaining 24 seats to the alliance partners. However, it might scale down its number and allocate another two or three seats to the allies, sources said.

TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy said there was no question of any arty leaving the alliance based on seat sharing.

The list could be out in a day or two after clearance from the Congress screening committee meeting.
