Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s attempt to weaken the opposition YSR Congress party in Rayalaseema region by engineering large scale defections from YSRC into the TDP seems to be boomeranging on him.
In the last two years, Naidu successfully lured several YSRC leaders into the TDP, including senior MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy, his daughter Akhila Priya, MLA S V Mohan Reddy and Nandyal MP S P Y Reddy and others.
A large number of YSRC leaders and cadre at the mandal and constituency level were also lured into the TDP under “Operation Akarsh” of Naidu.
However, the same operation is now turning into Operation Vikarsh for Naidu now with the disgruntled TDP leaders in various constituencies are looking up to the YSRC as an alternative for their career.
Already, former MLA Gangula Prabhakar Reddy from Allagadda took a plunge into the YSR Congress party in the presence of its president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy recently.
The latest information is that senior TDP leaders Shila Chakrapani Reddy and Shilpa Mohan Reddy are also getting ready to join the YSR Congress party sooner or later. They are feeling insecure with the domination of Bhuma Nagi Reddy in the TDP in the district and with Naidu deciding to induct him into the cabinet, they have realised that they have no future in the TDP.
At the same time, another senior TDP leader Irigela Ram Pulla Reddy is also said to be moving his pawns to join the YSR Congress party.
If that happens, there is going to be large scale reverse migration of the TDP leaders into the YSRC very soon!
