Tantric Prayers At Durga Temple For Lokesh?

Tantric Prayers At Durga Temple For Lokesh?

The alleged “tantric” prayers reportedly held in the sanctum sanctorum of the famed Kanaka Durga temple at Vijayawada has given yet another opportunity to the YSR Congress party to attack Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

YSRC official spokesman Ambati Rambabu on Tuesday alleged that it was none other than Naidu who had got the tantric prayers performed secretly after the midnight of December 26 only to secure powers to his son Nara Lokesh to become the chief minister of the state in future.

“The temple is under the control of the Endowments Department and it is not possible for somebody to perform such non-traditional and non-divine programmes to be conducted in the temple premises without the knowledge of the officials. It was definitely done at the behest of the powers—that-be,” Ambati alleged.

There were reports in the media that an unknown person performed puja on December 26 night from 11 pm to 1 am after closing the temple in contrary to the usual system.

There are allegations that temple EO Surya Kumari was behind the secret pujas. This has created a lot of unrest among the Durga devotees.

The EO, however, clarified that there were no such pujas. She, however, said the main priest had opened the sanctum sanctorum to clean the premises with the help of another person. She said she would look into the rules and take action if there was any lapse.
