Questions about why the DMK and AIADMK appear uncomfortable with TVK and actor Vijay’s political rise continue to dominate Tamil Nadu politics.
Supporters believe the traditional parties fear losing their long standing control over administration, influence and electoral networks if Vijay gains strong public support.
But speaking on a national television channel, senior Tamil journalist S. Gurumurthy from Tughlak magazine offered a practical explanation instead of an emotional political argument.
According to him, both parties have alternated power for decades, five years each, creating stable systems for their commercial activities that survive even when governments change after elections.
Gurumurthy claimed that many contracts, business understandings and administrative arrangements remain untouched regardless of whether the DMK or AIADMK forms the government.
Because of this hand in glove continuity, political and commercial interests have adjusted comfortably to a predictable structure that benefits several influential groups across the state.
He argued that the arrival of a strong third force like TVK could disrupt this balance.
In his view, the concern is less about Vijay personally becoming chief minister and more about the uncertainty of commercial arrangement with public contracts.
