Revanth Effect To Badly Hit Cong Prospects?

Revanth Effect To Badly Hit Cong Prospects?

The Telangana Congress party, which is hoping to bounce back into power in Telangana in the forthcoming assembly elections, is facing trouble for the leaders who have defected from other parties.

Especially in Mahbubnagar, the defection of Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy from the Telugu Desam Party into the Congress party is expected to hit the latter’s prospects in the district.

While Revanth has the capability to win his own seat, his influence has spread to other constituencies like Jadcherla, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Mahbubnagar.

According to sources, the highhanded attitude of Revanth has led to migration of several Congress leaders and cadre into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

The local TRS leaders are learnt to have taken it as a prestige to defeat not only Revanth but also the Congress leaders in these constituencies.

Local Congress leaders reportedly brought it to the notice of the party high command in Hyderabad that the TRS leaders were offering Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore to them asking them to defect to the TRS.

“Their only objective seems to be teaching a lesson to Revanth. His defection has brought more trouble to the Congress leaders,” they lamented.

What is more irritating to the Congress leaders is the way Revanth Reddy openly hobnobbing with the TDP leaders in Mahbubnagar district and praising Chandrababu Naidu in his speeches.

He has even been making statements that the Congress would have a tie-up with the TDP. He asked the TDP leaders in the district to join the anti-KCR front in the coming days.

Vexed with Revanth’s attitude, a senior Congress leader who had quit the party recently to join the TRS, reportedly vowed to defeat Revanth, Chinna Reddy, Nagam Janardhan Reddy and even veteran leader S Jaipal Reddy.

He has already preparing to spend huge amounts to fulfil his objective.
