Pawan To Take Over 10TV?

Pawan To Take Over 10TV?

If reports doing rounds in a section of social media are to be believed, power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan is going to take over Telugu television news channel 10TV, presently under the management of Communist Party of India (Marxist).

According to these reports, Pawan has struck a deal with the promoters of the channel. In fact, the channel, which was headed by CPI (M) state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, was launched with crowd funding with party supporters contributing their mite.

Though the channel has been able to mark its presence in the electronic media, it has not been able to achieve financial success yet.

That is precisely the reason why the 10TV management is planning to sell it off to Pawan Kalyan. However, Pawan is roping in popular industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad alias Matrix Prasad, who also launched popular entertainment channel Maa TV, which was later sold to Star Network. Nimmagadda is said to be holding still a minor share in Star Maa.

Now, Nimmagadda is investing around Rs 30 crore in 10TV, which would be run on behalf of Jana Sena Party. It is not exactly known how much Pawan is investing in the channel, sources said.

The power star, who launched a war against the existing popular Telugu television news channels, considered to be pro-Telugu Desam Party channels, some time ago for running down his image, was keen on having his own media house not only to counter the political rivals, but also to campaign his own party programmes.

Since the Jana Sena chief is closely hobnobbing with the Left parties, he has chosen to take over the 10TV, sources said.
