One More Sop From Naidu In Poll Year!

One More Sop From Naidu In Poll Year!

The election year seems to have set in for Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu well in advance.

Apparently realising that YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has been attracting the common man with a series of promises left, right and centre, Naidu, too, has started taking out one sop after the other to lure the people.

While he is all set to launch the unemployment allowance scheme from January 12, the TDP supremo is also contemplating coming out with yet another populist scheme – “Chandranna Pelli Kanuka,” aimed at providing financial assistance to the newly-wed couple belonging to the Backward Classes. The scheme is likely to be announced as a New Year gift.

As per the scheme, the government would provide financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000 per couple belonging to the poor Backward Classes on the occasion of their marriage.

An amount of Rs 300 crore has been allotted by the government under this scheme. A GO to this effect is expected to be issued in a few days after the authorities finalised the guidelines.

A three-step verification will be conducted for the Chandranna Pellikanuka scheme which includes - from the time of the marriage to completion of the marriage and accordingly the money will be transferred to the account of the bride.

The BC Welfare Department will be managing the Chandranna Pelli Kaanuka Online Application website.

Watch out for more such populist schemes from Naidu in the coming days!
