Not making KCR minister a mistake, says Naidu

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday admitted that he had made a mistake by not taking K Chandrasekhar Rao into cabinet, when the TDP came to power again in 1999.

In an interview to a television channel, Naidu said denying cabinet berth to KCR in 1999 was an error in his judgement.

“At that time, I felt that K Vijayarama Rao was more efficient than KCR as the former had worked as a CBI director and had a fair understanding of the bureaucracy. Certain decisions are taken depending on the circumstances prevailing at that time,” he said.

It is an open secret that KCR was hurt after being denied the cabinet berth and subsequently, he came out of the TDP to form the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. And rest is history – the TRS led the movement for separate statehood and finally it led to the bifurcation of the state in 2014.

“If we see the history, certain things are not in our hands. We can control only a few things,” he said, in a philosophical tone.
