The announcement made by maverick film director Ram Gopal Varma that he was going to make a biopic on legendary actor and former chief minister N T Rama Rao has triggered a lot of uneasiness in the camp of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Varma has declared that he would be making the film in the name of “Lakshmi’s NTR” which obviously indicated that the story would revolve around NTR’s widow Lakshmi Parvathi, whose entry into his life has changed his destiny completely.
It is not exactly known whether the film would show Lakshmi Parvathi as the heroine of the film or give it a negative shade. And it is also not known how the character of Chandrababu Naidu in NTR’s life would be tuned.
However, the TDP leaders are apprehensive that Varma, known for his peculiar moulding of characters, might show Naidu as the villain and Lakshmi Parvathi as the noble woman. That is precisely why TDP spokesman and MLC Babu Rajendra Prasad demanded that Varma should take the permission of Naidu before finalising the script and after the completion of the film, it should be shown to the chief minister before the release.
“Every dialogue and every scene in the script has to get the approval of Naidu. If there is any attempt to malign his image, we will not allow the film to be released in the state,” Rajendra Prasad said.
May be Naidu will ask his brother-in-law Balakrishna to expedite the project on NTR biopic, so that it would benefit the TDP in the next elections.
