Naidu Stopped Akhila From Quitting?

The recent boat tragedy in Krishna river near Vijayawada in which 22 persons died has damaged the reputation of young minister in the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet Bhuma Akhila Priya, who was the target of the people more than anybody else.

According to sources, Akhila was so much disturbed with the criticism that the very next day, she wanted to resign from her post after it was revealed that some senior officials of the AP Tourism department were hand in glove with the private boat operators.

Soon after the chief minister returned from his Kerala trip, she reportedly met him and offered to resign from her post, so that she could protect her reputation and also that of the TDP government.

However, Naidu told her not to take any such hasty step and not to utter any word on resigning before the media.

Apparently, he came to know that a couple of senior ministers in his cabinet have benami investments in private boating agencies and if Akhila resigns, the media would definitely dig out the truth and bring out their names. This will damage the reputation of entire cabinet.

Moreover, Naidu also felt that if Akhila resigns, the opposition party leaders will not lose much time in alleging that he had made a junior minister a scapegoat, while shielding senior ministers.

Naidu does not want all this nuisance and hence, asked Akhila not to talk about resignations. Only junior level officials of the AP Tourism department were suspended as an eyewash, she said.
