Naidu 'Sacrificing' Warangal To BJP?

Telugu Desam Party in Telangana is most likely to 'sacrifice' the Warangal Lok Sabha seat to its ally Bharatiya Janata Party in the forthcoming by-elections, if the reports coming from both the parties are any indication.

The TDP and the BJP on Saturday held talks to rope in a common candidate for Warangal Lok Sabha bypoll to be held in November 21.

TDP leader L Ramana and BJP Telangana Chief G Kishan Reddy discussed on a suitable candidate, who could win the election against the TRS in Warangal Lok Sabha seat (SC reserved) bypoll that was vacated by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari.

Sources said the BJP was firm on contesting the by-elections, though the TDP leaders are also evincing interest in the contest. However, Naidu is learnt to have prevailed upon his party cadres to leave the seat to the BJP.

Later, Kishan Reddy and Ramana said they would work together to defeat the TRS candidate and get support from the Centre in future.

Speaking after the BJP-TDP leaders meeting in Hyderabad, Kishan Reddy said they would field a NDA candidate for the by-poll and expressed confidence of winning the seat.

He said that the candidate's name would be announced in a couple of days. Sources added that it could well be a BJP candidate for the Warangal by-election.

“Since the people are fed up with the anti-development policies of the TRS Government, they will vote for us”, they hoped.
