If the reports coming from Amaravati are to be believed, the Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will not extend any logistic support to the Income Tax authorities who have been conducting raids on various industrialists and businessmen, besides political leaders close to the ruling Telugu Desam Party.
The state cabinet, which met at Amaravati on Friday, reportedly discussed the lighting raids being conducted by the IT authorities at various places.
The cabinet felt that it was a raid on the TDP government as a whole and are not targeted at some random individuals.
“It is not just in Andhra Pradesh, the Narendra Modi government has ordered IT raids on all the political rivals of the BJP in various other states as well just before the elections with a lot of vengeance. The BJP is trying to hit the morale of the TDP government,” Naidu reportedly felt at the cabinet meeting.
Many ministers suggested that the government should not cooperate with the Income Tax authorities or the CBI or Enforcement Directorate authorities who come to the state for raids.
“The law and order machinery is in our hands. There is no need for providing police support to the IT officials who conduct raids. Let us withdraw the police forces and not help the IT authorities in any manner,” the ministers reportedly told Naidu.
The chief minister agreed with their suggestion and might issue orders withdrawing security to the IT authorities, reports from Amaravati indicated.
Naidu also mooted a proposal to move the Supreme Court against the witch-hunting by the Centre before the elections.
“Such actions would severely hamper the Centre-state relations,” he opined.
