Naidu Decides Against Attending Maha Court!

After a lot of dilly dallying, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has finally decided not to attend the Dharmabad court in Maharashtra on Friday in connection with the 2010 Babli agitation case.

Naidu took this decision after discussing with his senior party colleagues and consulting his legal experts on Wednesday.

The legal advisors suggested to Naidu that it would be better file a recall petition in the court, seeking withdrawal of arrest warrant issued to him by the court as he was busy with his official engagements.

Now, Naidu would send his lawyer to Dharmabad court on Friday and file the recall petition.

However, it is not known whether others who figured in the warrant list including irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao also would file recall petitions or they would go to the court personally.

Originally, there were reports that Naidu was considering attending the Dharambad court in the Babli case.

He thought he would get a lot of political mileage if he attended the court since the people would show a lot of sympathy towards him.

He told the party colleagues that he had not committed any grave offence except for agitating for the people of Telangana. Moreover, it would be his duty to respect the judiciary.

May be the legal experts might have warned Naidu that there was a possibility of he getting arrested if he went to the court and that would mean he might lose the opportunity to travel to the US where he would be addressing the United Nations conference.

Perhaps, that was the reason why Naidu backtracked and decided to send the lawyer to file a recall petition.
