Congress party's Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao, who had been maintaining very low profile right from the beginning of his career, appears to be gradually emerging as a major political force in Andhra Pradesh.
In the recent past, KVP shot into limelight by taking up the cause of special category status to Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha that generated a nation-wide heat.
The Upper House had discussed the issue for three days and it stirred the people in the entire state. It forced AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to take up the issue with the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too, was compelled to work out some plan to appease AP people.
This has naturally elevated KVP’s position. He is now said to be gradually bringing like-minded forces on to a common platform to provide alternative to the TDP.
Sources said he might an attempt to bring about an alliance between the Congress party and the YSR Congress party by 2019, so that all the prominent Congress leaders who had left the party would return to his fold. And by next elections, KVP will be a rallying point for all the Opposition parties, say sources.
