KCR Wooing Kammas To Tame Reddys?

If the reports doing rounds in some media circles are to be believed, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to hold a massive meeting of Kamma community leaders shortly to seek their support to the TRS in the next elections.

Apparently, KCR’s move is to pitch the Kammas against the Reddy community which is growing strong against the TRS in Telangana.

The idea was mooted when KCR had met Telugu Desam Party leader Payyavula Kesav in Anantapur during the marriage of Paritala Sriram last Sunday.

There are a large section of Kammas in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Khammam and Nizamabad districts, besides parts of Karimnagar and they are all into large scale commercial agriculture and business establishments. A majority of people in the Telugu film industry is also from Kamma community.

By holding a Kamma Sammelan in Hyderabad sometime this month before Diwali. KCR wants to appease the community.

He would promise them all the support from the government and protect all their business interests. In return, he would seek their support to the TRS.

It is learnt, the TRS chief has entrusted the responsibility to Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao to organise the meeting and mobilise the Kamma crowds.

As part of Kamma Sammelan, the TRS chief is also expected to invite several Kamma leaders including former minister Mandava Venkateswara Rao into the party.
