KCR Indirectly Hints At Early Elections

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday indirectly hinted at going for early elections to the state assembly.

KCR, who discussed the party’s strategy at the TRS state executive committee meeting at the party office, mooted the proposal for early elections and was endorsed by the party.

However, KCR did not want to disclose it immediately since it has to be first endorsed by the state cabinet and then should be intimated to the Governor.

When a media person asked about the same at a press briefing later, KCR said if elections were held six months before the schedule, they cannot be called early elections.

“In such a situation, the question of early or late elections does not arise. We are prepared for the elections held at any time. If the opposition parties are also ready, we shall go to the elections,” he said.

Asked whether there would be dissolution of the state assembly, KCR was a little furious.

“Even my own cabinet colleagues do not have the idea, even if I take such a decision. How do you expect to me to tell you about the dissolution of the House?” he asked.

The TRS president, however, declared that he would announce the list of the TRS candidates for the assembly elections in September itself.

“There is no truth in the reports that I will change candidates in 40 assembly seats. We are constituting a committee to look into the candidatures of the contenders. And we shall announce the list soon,” he said.

The party is going to organise a massive public meeting on the city outskirts on September 2 to explain the TRS government’s achievements in the last four years.

“The election season has already begun. So, there is no meaning in talking about early or late elections,” KCR said.
