Jagan@200: Walking Towards Goal

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday completed yet another major milestone in his marathon “Praja Sankalpa Yatra.”

His padayatra entered 200th day, a rare feat achieved by very few politicians.

So far, Jagan has covered over 2,430 km covering 10 districts. Right from day one on November 6, when he kickstarted the padayatra from Idupulapaya on November 6 last year, he has been getting tremendous response from the people and the crowds have been swelling with every passing day.

Incidentally, Jagan is the third person to take up the walkathon in his family. His father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy set a new trend in state politics by taking up the padayatra for over 1500 km for the first time in 2003.

It brought him to power in 2014 elections. Jagan wanted to repeat the act in 2013, but unfortunately, he had to go behind the bars in 2012 in connection with a CBI case and as a result, his sister Sharmila took up the task and walked for 2,800 km.

Now, Jagan got the opportunity and he has been making the best use of the opportunity. In the last four years, he has developed his own brand for himself in the public and that is being reflected in his padayatra now.

The people are virtually thronging in thousands to see him, shake hands with him and take selfies with him.

He is giving a personal touch to his walkathon, interacting with people at every possible occasion, addressing public meetings at every major centre and drawing huge crowds as he enters from one district to another.

“After seeing such huge crowds and their response to his speeches, there is no doubt Jagan has remarkably increased his chances of coming to power. And he is confident of attaining his goal,” an independent political analyst observed.
