Independents to hold key in Telangana polls?

Independents to hold key in Telangana polls?

Known for his accurate election predictions, former Congress MP from Vijayawada Lagadapati Rajagopal on Friday opened up for the first time on the ongoing elections in Telangana.

He predicted that independent candidates would hold the key in the next week’s assembly elections.

Lagadapati, who had a darshan of Lord Venkateshwara in Tirumala in the morning, announced that his survey was ready and that he would disclose it on the evening of December 7.

He, however, gave some surprising hints about the outcome of the Telangana assembly elections.

He said independents were going to hold the key in deciding the fate of the parties coming to power.

“Around eight to 10 independents will win the elections in Telangana and are going to play a crucial role in the formation of next government,” he said.

The former MP announced that he would declare the names of two winning independent candidates every day hereafter.

On Friday, Lagadapati said an independent Shiva Kumar Reddy would win the Narayanpet assembly seat, while in Boath constituency in Adilabad district, another independent Anil Jadhav would win the seat.

“The Telangana voters are going to give an intelligent verdict this time, without succumbing to the lure of any political party. It is heartening to note that they are going to elect independent candidates in big numbers,” he said.
