Responding to the suicide of Muni Koti, Venkayya Naidu appealed to the youth not to resort to the extreme step and then laid the blame squarely on the Congress for the denial of special status to Andhra Pradesh.
“They promised special status to Andhra Pradesh but did not include it in the Re-Organization Bill. That is the problem. They are responsible for this situation,” said Venkayya Naidu.
Who was it who first made the promise of special status to Andhra Pradesh?
It was not the Congress, it was Venkayya himself and he also increased the tenure of the proposed special status from five years to ten years. And now, how can he blame the Congress for being the reason behind denial of special status to Andhra Pradesh?
The BJP is in power now, and more importantly, commands a majority in Parliament. So continuing to blame the Congress is only deflecting attention from their unwillingness to concede the special status to Andhra Pradesh.
As for Venkayya Naidu, the lesser said about him, the better.
