Telugu Desam Party MP from Guntur Galla Jayadev on Wednesday suggested that Guntur, which was most likely to be the new capital of Seemandhra, be developed as a “Smart City.”
Jayadev told media that the Modi government had taken up a scheme to build “smart” cities across the country. As part of that Guntur could be developed as a smart city, he suggested.
He pointed out that though Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States were new, the position of Andhra Pradesh was different as it has deficit budget.
He complained more electricity was allotted to Telangana on the basis of consumption compared to Andhra Pradesh. Still water has to be shared between the two new states.
There should be a clear-cut policy on sharing of resources which would pave way for equal development of the States, Jaydev said.
