'Gali gari viyyankudu' gets Naidu backing?

Hyderabad-based industrialist Panyam Vikram Deva Reddy, whose son Rajeev Reddy married Brahmini, only daughter of mining baron and former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy last week, is all set to make an entry into politics.

Vikram Deva, who is known very little in the media, suddenly shot into prominence by getting his son married to Gali Janardhan Reddy’s daughter in a high-profile wedding which attracted global attention.

Inquiries revealed that Vikram Deva, who has mining projects in Africa and also gold trading business in Dubai, is learnt to have evinced interest in entering politics.

Sources said the industrialist wants to contest the next Parliamentary elections from his native district Kurnool on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.

Instead of approaching the BJP leadership directly, he is learnt to have sought the help of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and got the assurance, sources said.

Surprisingly, Vikram has chosen not to join the YSR Congress party which is stronger than the TDP in Kurnool. Apparently, Gali himself is not happy with his good old friend YS Jaganmohan Reddy, as the latter had not helped him in his hour of crisis.

In the last one year, he is said to have developed good relations with the TDP and if everything goes well, Gali might even get back the licence of Brahmani Steels which he had proposed to set up during YSR regime.
