DMK Supporters Attack Ram Gopal Varma

Ram Gopal Varma has stayed away from political commentary for quite some time, especially after YCP lost the 2024 general elections. However, he suddenly made a post on X today, sharing a picture of M. Karunanidhi with a young Vijay.

What sparked controversy was his statement, “Kalaignar wouldn’t have dreamed that the kid behind him would one day destroy his party.”

The use of the word “destroy” did not go down well with DMK supporters.

They reacted angrily and began responding online.

One netizen wrote, “Destroy the party? Check the track record of DMK, sir. 75+ years and still moving forward. Electoral success and defeat are part of politics.”

Another post read, “Please focus on making your usual films. DMK is still a major political force, not destroyed. It is known for its grassroots work.”

A different user commented, “Dravidian ideology will never be destroyed. There may be new entrants, but not from outside Dravidian roots.”

Yet another response stated, “No one has been born yet who can destroy DMK. If you truly try, you may end up destroying yourself. It’s a powerful force, don’t underestimate DMK.”

Overall, such online backlash is not new for Ram Gopal Varma, who is known for thriving on controversy.
