Centre Doubtful About Deficit In AP

Given the way Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu has been crying hoarse about lack of funds for development of Andhra Pradesh, the Centre has decided to study the situation in the state before even considering his appeal.

Well, according to a story in an English daily, the Centre has been putting some serious questions to the State government and they have been trying to come up with answers ever since.

Though Babu has been talking of lack of funds, NITI Aayog officials have said that much of the funds have been used to waiver loans in the state.

However, while the officials do not consider bifurcation to be the main cause, they feel that various other costs included under 'deficit' do not qualify the state for a special package.

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi was considering giving a special package to AP, he is said to be waiting for the final report from NITI Aayog before making a decision.
