At a time when the ruling Telugu Desam Party is hell bent on weakening the YSR Congress party in Rayalaseema region by engineering defections of Opposition MLAs and leaders, there is some relief for the YSRC too.
Former Telugu Desam Party MLA and Rayalaseema Parirakshana Vedika convenor Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy is contemplating joining the YSR Congress party shortly.
According to sources, Byreddy, who has been going hammer and tongs against the Chandrababu Naidu government for neglecting Rayalaseema region for the last two years, is eager to fill the slots vacated by Nandyal MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy and his daughter Akhila in the YSR Congress party and build his own clout in Kurnool district.
In a way, Byreddy would definitely be an asset for the YSR Congress party, as he has his own cadre base in the district and with his aggressive approach, he can create troubles for TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
In fact, after the bifurcation, Byreddy made a desperate bid to stage a comeback into the TDP, but it did not materialise because of his outburst against Naidu during the Samaikyandhra agitation.
Now, he is looking for alternatives and there is no better option for him than the YSR Congress party, say sources.
