BJP Turns Its Attention On South!

After its latest victory in Bihar assembly elections, albeit with a narrow margin, it appears the Bharatiya Janata Party has turned its attention towards building the organization in southern states so that it could emerge a powerful force in the coming days.

After a long gap, the BJP leadership appointed an in-charge for Andhra Pradesh. Senior party leader from Kerala and Union minister of state for parliamentary affairs V Muraleedharan, has been asked to take charge of Andhra affairs, while continuing Sunil Deodhar as co-in-charge.

For the last few days, Sunil Deodhar has been making aggressive statements, criticizing the YSR Congress party government. It is not exactly known the style of functioning of Muraleedharan, but he is said to be controversial and aggressive.

A former president of Kerala’s BJP unit, Muraleedharan was known to have led protests of Hindus in Sabarimala episode. His appointment is definitely an indication to the party’s attempt to grow independently and strongly in Andhra.

In Telangana, too, the BJP leadership appointed Tarun Chugh, a senior party leader from Punjab, as the in-charge of party affairs in Telangana. He was recently made one of the national general secretaries and is said to be quite experienced in handling crisis situations.

His appointment comes at a time when the BJP is in a jubilant mood after the victory in Dubbak assembly by-elections. Chugh is expected to bring in his experience in guiding the party to victory in the coming elections.
