BJP Not Keen On Tie-Up With Jagan?

Bharatiya Janata Party central leadership is learnt to have ruled out the possibility of any understanding or alliance with YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy before or after the 2019 elections.

Highly placed sources said some Andhra leaders like Daggubati Purandeshwari, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and Kanna Lakshminarayana, who had jumped from the Congress to BJP have suggested to BJP national president Amit Shah that it would be better to go with Jagan in 2019 elections, rather than Chandrababu Naidu, since the latter was not a reliable person and might turn the tables on the BJP for denying the special category status for the sake of votes in the next elections. Moreover, Jagan has better chances of winning the elections, as people are not happy with Naidu administration.

However, Shah did not approve of this. He knows that all these leaders were closer to former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and hence are lobbying for his son Jagan.

He apparently told them that whether it was good or bad, it would be better for the BJP to sail with the TDP. Moreover, Naidu welcomed the special financial package and even thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for that.

“If Naidu tries to raise the special category status issue before the elections, people won’t believe him. In the meantime, the BJP should try to spread to every nook and corner of the state so as to have better bargaining power with Naidu in the next elections,” he suggested.
