YSRC To Get Two More MLC Seats Shortly!

The ruling YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh is going to get two more seats in the state legislative council shortly.

The Election Commission of India on Thursday announced the schedule for filling up of vacant seats in various state legislatures across the country, including two vacant seats in AP state legislative council.

The two MLC seats have fallen vacant with the resignation of two members – Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and Mopidevi Venkataramana – who have been elected as Rajya Sabha members recently.

While it will be by-elections for the seat vacated by Mopidevi, it will be full-fledged elections for the seat vacated by Subhash Chandra Bose, as his tenure was for less than six months.

As per the election schedule, the notification for the MLC polls will be issued on August 6 and the nomination process commences on the same day.

The last date for nominations is August 13 and the poling, if necessary, will be held on August 24. Results would be declared on the same day.

The YSRC has recently filled up two vacancies under Governor’s quota. The seats have fallen vacant due to the completion of term of two MLCs – Kantheti Satyanarayana Raju and Ratna Bai, both the TDP nominees.

In their place, YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy nominated Mayana Zakiya Khanam of Kadapa district and Pandula Ravindra Babu of Amalapuram in East Godavari district as MLCs under the Governor’s quota.

It remains to be seen who will get the YSRC tickets for the two vacant seats elections for which are going to be held in August.
