The sacking of Gatika Vijay Kumar, the high-profile public relations officer in the Telangana chief minister’s office, has become a big sensation in the media circles on Wednesday.
Vijay Kumar was forced to quit both his post in the CMO and also as the general manager (corporate communications) in the Telangana State Transco.
Going by the talk in the media groups, he has paid the penalty for his alleged corrupt practices such as land settlements and other such acts.
There are also reports that Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to overhaul the entire CMO and called for dossiers of other officials and non-officials working in the office, so as to weed out corrupt and bad elements.
This swift development seems to have had its echo in the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh as well.
According to reports, there has been a talk in the media circles as to whether and when chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will overhaul his CMO.
There are murmurs in the media that some officials in the CMO were also indulging in corrupt practices and making big money. There is also absolute lack of coordination among the officials, which is leading a lot of problems in information flow, they say.
“There is a need to overhaul the administration, particularly CMO, in Andhra Pradesh as well. Jagan needs to identify bad elements and weed them out one after the other,” a media analyst said.
