Will it be last cabinet meeting for Andhra ministers?

The proposed cabinet meeting being convened by YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on October 28 (Thursday) is said to be creating uneasiness of sorts in all the ministers.

Though holding the cabinet meetings once in a month is a routine phenomenon, it is said the Thursday’s meeting has its own significance.

There is a talk in the party that this is going to be the last cabinet meeting for the present council of ministers, as Jagan is all set to overhaul the existing cabinet by replacing all the existing ministers with new faces next month.

According to reports from the party, Jagan is likely to announce several important decisions during the cabinet meeting, apart from presenting the progress card of all the ministers.

“He will bid them goodbye and extend thanks to all of them for their cooperation in the last two and a half years,” a source familiar with the development said.

Though Jagan had announced earlier that he would replace 90 per cent of the ministers with new faces, it is learnt he has decided to take up 100 per cent revamping of the entire cabinet by including all new ministers.

“He is planning to go aggressive in the coming years. So, he would go to the next elections with a new bunch of ministers. He would also announce his 2024 election mission during the cabinet meeting,” he said.

The chief minister will read out the performance reports of all the ministers during the cabinet meeting. The reports were prepared with the help if inputs he had received from intelligence department, besides private agencies like I-PAC headed by strategist Prashant Kishor.

Some of the senior leaders among the ministers, who would be sacked from the cabinet, would be appointed in key positions in the party.

Once the cabinet reshuffle is done, Jagan would like to go into the people with a series of programmes, sources added.
