Why wasn't it named Ambedkar Konaseema then?

Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday wondered why the Jagan government had not named Konaseema after B R Ambedkar at the time of reorganization of districts in April.

Speaking to reporters at Mangalagiri party office,  Pawan Kalyan said nobody would object to naming of districts after national leaders. Problem would arise if the government tried to gain political mileage by such decisions.

"Several districts were named after Alluri Sitarama Raju, YSR, Potti Sriramulu, Prakasam, Satya Sai etc. Nobody raised any objection. There was a policy for naming all these districts, as these leaders represented these district. But there is no such policy for Konaseema," he said.

Even with regard to NTR district, the policy was not followed, as NTR hailed from Krishna district, not Vijayawada. That is why there was a demand for naming Vijayawada after Vangaveeti Ranga, he said.

"The government should act sensibly while dealing with such sensitive issues. The issue wouldn't have arisen had the government named Konaseema after Ambedkar in the beginning itself. Why did it the decision suddenly, if not for political reasons?" Jana Sena chief asked.
