Former legislator Vangaveeti Radhakrishna destroyed his own political career. He also destroyed to some extent the fan base that his father late Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga Rao has even after 40 years of his assassination.
It was his mother, Vangaveeti Rathna Kumari, who also ruined her political career and caused some damage to her husband Ranga’s image in the 1990s.
Now, it is Radha, who started his career in Congress with the blessings of late Dr Rajasekhar Reddy in 2004 and then moved to Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party in 2009. Then again, he moved to the YSR Congress from where he landed in the TDP.
It is everyone’s firm belief that late Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga Rao was killed in TDP’s regime with the support of TDP leaders.
Even Radhakrishna pointed accusing finger at Chandrababu Naidu for the murder of his father Ranga in 1988.
While sailing with the TDP, he finds himself out of place as his supporters are not able to digest his political association.
The repeated change of political parties and repeated defeats in the successive elections, had already brought him enough defame.
He is now considered an unlucky person in politics and that’s what seems to have made him speak to live in the public memory.
He found himself a bit emotional at his father’s death anniversary celebrations where he made a comment that the rivals of his father were trying to eliminate him too.
As he anticipated, he got enough publicity with this comment these days, while there is no evidence to substantiate his charge.
Even the city police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata had made it clear that there was no evidence to prove that a recce was held targeting Radhakrishna.
But, Radhakrishna got his share of publicity when people were almost forgetting him. Unfortunately, the visit of Chandrababu Naidu to his house is not going well down the lane as Ranga’s followers will never accept Naidu.
If police can’t find clues and Radhakrishna’ can’t substantiate his charge of recce, the episode will become a political stunt to hit the headlines rather than a mature political play.
