Who Is Behind the Closure of Kumari Aunty's Food Business?

Dasari Sai Kumari, popularly known as Kumari Aunty, gained social media fame for operating a bustling food stall opposite a popular star hotel in Hyderabad.

Although she initiated the food business in 2011 at this location, her recent surge in popularity led to the sale of nearly 100 kg of cooked rice along with various non-vegetarian items.

Social media played a significant role in her rise to prominence, with film celebrities like Sundeep Kishen further enhancing her visibility through visits for lunch.

However, today, the traffic police forced her to close the stall, citing traffic jams. They pointed out that the land on which she operates her business is not her own and indicated they would have allowed her to continue if there were no traffic issues.

The police also suggested that she has the option to go to court and obtain a stay on their decision.

Unfortunately, Kumari Aunty, a middle-class woman without political backing, lacks the time and resources to engage in legal battles with the police system.

Her only viable option at this point is to relocate her business elsewhere, with no guarantee that it will thrive as bustling in a new location.

Local residents allege that influential individuals are behind this action against her. The prominent hotels in the vicinity are concerned about their image, as social media mentions some of their brand names to identify the food stall's location.

On the flip side, some individuals may simply be envious of her business success and have attempted to displace her under the guise of addressing traffic issues.

It appears that there is a sentiment against middle-class individuals growing too rapidly, attracting public and social media attention, leading to unfortunate incidents like this one.
