Bhaskar Reddy, a social media YCP activist, was arrested when he came to India to attend his father’s final rites.
The Andhra Pradesh police got the information, and as soon as he completed the funeral, he was taken into custody.
Bhaskar Reddy claims that the police battered him badly, leaving him blue and black, and he is even unable to walk.
Meanwhile, TDP-supporting youth were celebrating and taking videos using abusive language against him as well as YCP leadership.
However, this should serve as a lesson for the youth. Whenever power changes, harassment and arrests becomes inevitable.
Some youngsters may feel they are untouchable while making videos from foreign lands, but they forget that they may have to come to India someday for personal reasons. Even opponents wait for such moments to take action.
Going emotional and aggressive toward a political party is unwise, as this situation proves.
What can they truly earn or gain from such behavior? Youngsters should open their eyes and learn, regardless of which party they support.
If they genuinely want a certain party to win, they can vote for it and influence those around them in a democratic way, but not in the abusive manner of cursing at family members of political opponents.
Bhaskar Reddy’s case teaches that support from the party one loves may not go beyond a few tweets from its leaders. The same will be true for any party.
