Tragedy in family: YSRC MLA quits party prez post

Senior YSR Congress party leader and Rayadurgam MLA Kapu Ramachandra Reddy on Tuesday announced resignation from the post of party president in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh.

He said he was compelled to take the decision owing to a tragic incident in the family which caused him a lot of mental disturbance. At the same time, he said he had to focus on the party activities in the district.

In a letter to YSRC president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ramachandra Reddy said he was not able to handle the district party president post because of the tragedy in his family.

His son-in-law Manjunath Reddy committed suicide at his residence in Kunchanpalli village of Tadepalli mandal, close to the residence of the chief minister in August this year.

Stating that the tragedy has totally shattered his family, the MLA said he was not able to focus on the responsibilities given to him as the district party president.

At the same time, he has to focus completely on his constituency in the next one and a half years; so, he won’t be able to do justice to the party president post, he said.

Ramachandra Reddy thanked the chief minister for entrusting him with key responsibility in the district party and requested him to accept his resignation.
