Tirupati By-Poll, No Assembly Session

Tirupati By-Poll, No Assembly Session

The Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency by-election seems to have influenced the ruling party to decide against holding budget session this time.

Initially, the government had planned to commence the budget session from March 19.

As the election schedule for the Tirupati by-election had come and the model code of conduct is to be in force from March 23 to May 2, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had reportedly decided not to convene the budget session.

The chief minister had reportedly told the senior officials besides Assembly Speaker Thammineni Sitaram and Council Chairman M A Sharif, when he met them in a meeting at Velagapudi secretariat on Wednesday.

Even after the model code would end on May 2, the chief minister wanted to defer the budget session as he had earlier planned to shift administration to Visakhapatnam, the executive capital on May 6.

Meanwhile, Jagan Mohan Reddy had met YSR Congress nominee for Tirupati LS by-election, M Gurumurthy at his camp office in Tadepalli and greeted him.

Dr Gurumurthuy, a noted physiotherapist in Tirupati and a close associate of the YSR family, thanked the chief minister for the opportunity.
