Three capitals, Jagan gets overwhelming support

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is receiving overwhelming support from across the State for his three capitals proposal.

Though the plans to have three capitals is yet to be finalised, people from the three districts of north Andhra and four districts of Rayalaseema, are jubilant.

Jagan had promised executive capital (secretariat) for Visakhapatnam and judicial capital (High Court) for Kurnool.

The executive capital is expected to develop the three backward districts of Uttarandhra, while the High Court has been the long pending dream of the people of four districts of Rayalaseema.

There is some jubilation from the two south coastal districts of Nellore and Prakasam for High Court proposal at Kurnool.

The Uttarandhra has 34 Assembly constituencies while the Rayalaseema has 52 (86) in the 175-member Assembly in the State. The YSR Congress had won 28 seats out of 34 in Uttarandhra and 49 in Rayalaseema.

In addition to this, there are 19 seats in East Godavari that favour capital in Visakhapatnam and 22 seats in Nellore and Prakasam that welcome High Court in Kurnool. Here too, Jagan had won 14 in East Godavari and 18 in Nellore and Prakasam together.

These numbers are likely to be more for Jagan Mohan Reddy if one goes by the jubilation of the people in the two regions.

As there is no resistance from the remaining Guntur, Krishna and West Godavari districts, not much damage is expected for Jagan Mohan Reddy in the next elections in these districts.

The political analysts thus see a positive wave in favour of Jagan Mohan Reddy across the State, except in some pockets of Guntur and Krishna districts.

Interestingly, this positive sign is one of the reasons for TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu for not coming on to the streets against the shifting of capital proposal.
