It appears all the doors are closed for former Rajya Sabha MP V Vijay Sai Reddy from escaping the arrest in the alleged multi-crore liquor scam that took place during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
Sai Reddy, who has been named Accused No. 5 (A-5) in the scam, was grilled by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh police twice in connection with the liquor scam.
During the investigation, Sai Reddy allegedly spilled the beans over the role of prominent people like Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy and former IT advisor to the Jagan government Raj Kesireddy.
He was apparently hoping that he would be let off, as he had quit the YSRCP and maintaining friendly relations with the BJP national leadership at the Centre. So, he claimed that he was a whistle blower in the scam.
But the SIT, which is probing the case, reportedly got some strong evidence about the role of Sai Reddy in the case.
Since there is no possibility of the BJP allowing Sai Reddy into the party and there are reports that he might go back into the YSRCP, the SIT once again started tightening the noose around him.
So, it summoned Sai Reddy to appear before the investigating officer on July 12 for further questioning. Sensing that he might get arrested if he goes to the SIT office, he sent a message saying he won’t be able to attend as he has prior engagements.
Sources said Sai Reddy had rushed to Delhi to request the BJP top leaders to bail him out of the case, but there was no positive response from them. Yet, he is trying his best to lobby with the powers-that-be.
“In any case, he reportedly told his close aides that he won’t attend the SIT questioning even if summoned again, as they will definitely arrest him,” sources said.
