Rift in Vijayawada TDP ahead of civic polls

Rift in Vijayawada TDP ahead of civic polls

As the Andhra Pradesh state election commission sounded bugle for the elections to 12 municipal corporations and 75 municipalities and nagar panchayats, the differences in the Telugu Desam Party began surfacing once again.

In Vijayawada, the differences between local parliament member Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani and legislative council member Buddha Venkanna surfaced once again, at the inauguration of the TDP divisional office at one-town centre in Vijayawada on Thursday.

The followers of Buddha Venkanna had an argument with Kesineni alleging that the latter was encouraging outsiders in the TDP, especially those who had defected to other parties in the past.

An agitated Kesineni said if he had made any mistake, the disciplinary committee of the party would take action.

“If anybody does any mistake in the party, one can complain straightaway to party president Chandrababu Naidu. But one should create ruckus in the streets,” he shouted.

The differences between Kesineni and Buddha had been going on for the last two years. They openly castigated each other several times in the past and both had indulged in a twitter war.

At one stage, Kesineni even thought of walking out of the TDP and served a virtual ultimatum to Naidu. However, the issue subsided following the intervention of Naidu. It remains to be seen if the TDP president intervenes again and resolve the crisis.
