A sharp war of words erupted on social media between Jana Sena Party president and Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and YSR Congress senior leader Ambati Rambabu over the latest findings of the special investigation team on the adulteration of ghee used for Tirumala laddu making.
The Jana Sena chief criticised the previous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board for its “colossal administrative failure and immoral actions” that “shattered the sanctity of Tirumala.”
In a detailed post on X (formerly Twitter), Pawan Kalyan called for the TTD to adopt “total transparency” in all its activities, including finances, audits, quality control, and donation management.
He said such measures were essential to “restore the sanctity of Tirumala” and “regain the trust of millions of devotees.”
“For everyone managing and running TTD — from the Board and bureaucrats to employees and contractors — your role is not merely a designation or title, but a sacred opportunity to do divine service for millions of Sanatanis,” Pawan wrote.
“While establishing a Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Board is a step for the future, the responsibility to safeguard Dharma remains the collective duty of every Sanatani,” he added, expressing hope that “someday all our temples will be managed by the community — by the devotees themselves.”
The Jana Sena leader’s remarks come amid continuing political reverberations over allegations of irregularities in the TTD’s laddu ghee procurement and supply process, an issue that has triggered heated debate over faith, governance, and transparency at one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage centres.
Ambati hit back sharply, accusing Pawan Kalyan of “selective outrage” and “political puppetry” designed to echo the propaganda of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
In a strongly worded post on X, Ambati mocked Pawan Kalyan as a “Sanātani warrior” who “finally crawled out of hibernation” — not for “justice, truth, or Dharma,” but to “dance to Chandrababu Naidu’s propaganda drums.”
“Where was this loudmouth ‘protector of faith’ when six devotees died in the Tirupati stampede?” Ambati asked, referencing multiple past tragedies at temple sites.
“Where was his divine outrage when seven people lost their lives in Simhachalam or when nine died in Kasibugga? Not a single visit, not even a word of condolence.”
Continuing his criticism, Ambati also alleged double standards on the part of the Jana Sena chief for staying silent when “189,000 kilograms of cow meat was seized from TDP leader Subrahmanya Gupta’s cold storage in Visakhapatnam.”
“No outrage. No condemnation. Silence and hypocrisy,” Ambati wrote.
“But today, conveniently before YSRCP’s November 12 rallies against medical college privatisation, Pawan suddenly wakes up, rushes to X, and parrots Naidu’s smear script. This is not Dharma. This is desperate political puppetry.”
