Not interested in Andhra politics, clarifies Sharmila

YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila on Friday refuted the news reports in a section of media that she would be taking charge as the president of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee.

She also denied receiving any proposal to accept the Congress Rajya Sabha ticket from Karnataka. Tweeting in this regard, she said she was always committed to the cause of Telangana and would continue to fight for the people of the region.

In the Tweet, Sharmila stated, “I was always in Telangana and will be in Telangana till my last breath. I request speculators to stop making paper plans about my future,” she said.

She said the media, instead, should write about the issues pertaining to the people of my state Telangana and highlight the misrule and massive corruption of KCR, his family and his party members.

“My future lies in Telangana and with its people,” she said.

Sharmila, however, did not deny the reports that she would be merging her party with the Congress. All that she said was that she is not interested in Andhra politics but would confine herself to Telangana.

Interestingly, AICC general secretary in-charge of Telangana affairs Manik Rao Thakre said the Congress high command had been in touch with Sharmila. He said the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh would immensely benefit, if Sharmila joins the party.
