No Change In Three-Capitals Plan: Sai Reddy

YSR Congress party general secretary and parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy on Saturday made it clear that there was no question of going back on the decision to form three capital cities for Andhra Pradesh.

“Decentralisation of administration through three capital cities is the policy decision of the YSRC and its government. There will be no change in this decision, whatsoever, irrespective of the opposition from a section of politicians,” Sai Reddy told reporters in Visakhapatnam.

He said the decision to form three capitals was taken only after consulting all the stake holders and obtaining reports from experts.

“Locating administrative capital at Visakhapatnam and legislative capital at Amaravati is within the purview of the state government and we shall go by the same,” he said.

However, the issue of shifting judicial capital was in the purview of the Centre and the Supreme Court.

“But our plan is to shift the judicial capital to Kurnool,” Sai Reddy said.

On the conduct of local body elections in the state, the YSRC general secretary said they would be held only when the government desired to do so.

“It is the government which will decide when to conduct the elections. However, the issue is presently in the court. Elections would be held only after the court verdict,” Sai Reddy asserted.
