Nimmagadda's Another Decision Irks YSRCP

State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar had taken yet another decision that seems to have irked the ruling YSR Congress.

The Opposition TDP is not happy with his decisions particularly after the government machinery had come in terms with Nimmagadda before the start of the Gram Panchayat elections.

The ruling party, which had fought a toughest battle against Nimmagadda continues to be up in arms against him.

The latest to create afresh controversy is Nimmagadda’s decision to give another opportunity for the opposition to file nominations in 14 places where elections were unanimous before they were postponed in March 2020.

Nimmagadda had cleared six wards in Tirupati, three wards in Punganuru, two in Rayachoti and three wards in Yerragunta urban local bodies.

Interestingly, these wards were declared unanimous. Though the winners were not given the declaration forms, the fresh decision of Nimmagadda is likely to force them to challenge the SEC’s decision in the court.

Those who were declared elected in these 14 municipal wards in the past have already decided to file a suit against the SEC in the high court on Tuesday.

The SEC is already facing a case in the high court against his decision to allow fresh nominations even in the MPTC and ZPTC elections.

However, it is to be seen how the high court would react once the case comes up.
