Firebrand and foul-mouthed Telugu Desam Party leader and Tadipatri Municipal Corporation chairman J C Prabhakar Reddy has alleged that the YSR Congress Party is able to survive and even dare to challenge TDP leaders only because Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is protecting them.
“YSRCP leaders have the backing of Chandrababu Naidu, but TDP leaders never had any protection from YSRCP attacks in the past. If Chandrababu Naidu hadn’t protected you, your current situation would have been far worse,” Prabhakar Reddy said.
He was responding to recent criticism made by former minister Perni Nani, former MLA Devineni Avinash, and former Dharmavaram MLA Kethireddy Venkatarami Reddy against TDP leaders in general, and the JC brothers in particular.
“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, please give us just 30 days of freedom. Let’s see who says what after that,” Prabhakar Reddy demanded.
He added that while Naidu is a good man, he is not incapable.
“He is focused on developing Andhra Pradesh. But if Chandrababu Naidu really wanted to take revenge, where would you all be today? You keep saying, ‘If we come to power, we’ll deal with it.’ But if you're held accountable now, who will protect you?” he asked.
Prabhakar Reddy questioned why TDP leaders were staying silent while YSRCP leaders were freely making allegations.
“You former YSRCP ministers and MLAs behave as though you are saints. When Jagan was in power, he spared no one. All we saw were police cases, jail time, and house arrests,” he recalled.
Referring to YSRCP leaders' claims of attracting large crowds to their public meetings, he said: “If you have the courage, hold a meeting in Tadipatri and see the response. Here’s my message to TDP workers: attack the YSRCP leaders. We have four more years; let’s see who can stop us.”
Responding to former MLA Kethireddy Venkatarami Reddy’s remark that the JC brothers should build jails to make their future stay comfortable when YSRCP returns to power, Prabhakar Reddy shot back: “If you are thrown behind bars now, let’s see who comes to your rescue.”
