Naidu praises Modi, urges probe into phone tapping

TDP president and former CM of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu has not been losing any opportunity to get into the good books of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and impress him with his praises.

On Monday, Naidu made yet another attempt to appease the Prime Minister, whom he had criticised in the past with choicest words and planned to pull down form the throne in Delhi in 2019.

The TDP chief wrote a three-page letter to Modi requesting for an investigation into the alleged tapping of phones of opposition leaders, lawyers, activists, journalists and even judges by the Jagan government.

Even in this letter, Naidu did not forget to shower praises on the Prime Minister. He said the country’s security has improved tremendously and our armed forces have found new confidence under Modi’s able and dynamic leadership.

“Internally, the threat from terrorists and extremist forces has been mitigated, while externally, our borders have been strengthened and new alliances were forged under your watchful eye,” Naidu said.

He alleged that the phones of the rivals were being tapped in the state, using sophisticated technology and illegal software.

He sought a probe by a central agency into the phone tapping, that amounts to violation of Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India and the provisions of Indian Telegraph Act.

“This is all the more dangerous as in the long run it could pose direct threat to the national security".

He was apprehensive of people in high positions facing blackmail from such miscreants.

He alleged that the ruling YSRC has now even targeted judiciary, the third pillar of the democracy, as it is facing hurdles from the judiciary.
