Kesineni Loses, Daughter Wins

Kesineni Loses, Daughter Wins

Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) had finally lost the battle in Muncipal Corporation elections.

He could not lead the party to victory as he claimed in the beginning.

He had high hopes on the party's victory and so fielded his daughter Swetha from 11th division.

He lobbied hard to get his daughter named mayor candidate by the TDP.

Though the TDP leadership initially cleared her name for the mayor post in March 2020, things have changed after the postponement of the elections.

When the polls were resumed in February this year, the party leadership had second thoughts on Swetha's candidature.

There was also open opposition to Kesineni in the party urban leadership.

MLC Buddha Venkanna, former MLA Bonda Uma, senior leader Nagul Meera have teamed up against Kesineni.

However, the dust was settled in the last minute, but it was too late by then.

Swetha had won from her division but her father had lost the battle mostly due to squabbles in TDP.

It is now for Kesineni to plan his future and that of his daughter.

With local leaders openly opposing him and working against him, will he be able to continue in the party is a big question.

It is widely said that Kesineni is looking at BJP but he might not jump immediately.

It is to be seen what move he will make once the election process gets over.
