Jana Sena sacks ex-MLA in Kovvur for 'indiscipline'

The political atmosphere in the Kovvur Assembly constituency of Nellore district has heated up following alleged abusive remarks by former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy against sitting MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy, which was followed by an attack on his residence in Nellore town.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders in Kovvur have accused the Vemireddy couple of acting in a highhanded manner and targeting opposition leaders and workers.

Interestingly, even local leaders of the Jana Sena Party have expressed dissatisfaction over the dominant role being played by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), particularly the influence of the Vemireddy family.

Senior Jana Sena leader and former MLA T V Rama Rao, who also serves as the party’s in-charge for the Kovvur Assembly constituency, voiced strong objections to the behavior of local TDP leaders.

In a letter addressed to Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan, Rama Rao expressed concerns over the lack of respect and importance given to Jana Sena in the constituency.

“It is unfortunate that Jana Sena leaders and workers were completely sidelined during the formation of cooperative societies and Agricultural Market Committees (AMCs),” he wrote.

He further added, “Despite our consistent adherence to alliance principles and commitment to unity, TDP leaders have not shown the same spirit of cooperation.”

Rama Rao urged TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to take the matter seriously and implement corrective measures.

“If this attitude continues, it could negatively impact the alliance’s performance in the upcoming panchayat elections,” he warned.

However, within hours of sending the letter, the Jana Sena Party issued a statement announcing Rama Rao’s suspension.

The statement said the party had taken note of his recent remarks and actions, which were deemed contrary to the party's policies and principles.

“As your actions have disrupted the spirit of the alliance, you are hereby relieved from your responsibilities as party in-charge for Kovvur with immediate effect. Until a final decision is made, you are directed to refrain from participating in party activities,” the statement read.
