Jagan To Seal Council Fate Today

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to seal the fate of the Legislative Council today, when he chairs his cabinet at Velagapudi in the morning and when he meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi in the evening.

The day is very important and significant for him politically as he is still on the winning horse, while the Prime Minister and his party leadership is getting down from the routed horse in Delhi.

The crushing defeat is still there on the face of the Prime Minister, when Jagan Mohan Reddy goes to him this evening with a smile on his face.

Jagan Mohan Reddy is growing strong while Narendra Modi is growing weak and that makes a lot of difference in politics.

Narendra Modi is yet to get majority in the Rajya Sabha. His thumping victory and undisputed numbers in Lok Sabha is not enough to give him a smile.

He is short of numbers in Rajya Sabha and the repeated defeats in the States have closed his chances of increasing his strength in the Upper House.

On the contrary, Jagan Mohan Reddy has greater chances of increasing his strength. He has 22 MPs in the Lok Sabha and two in the Rajya Sabha. He is set to win four seats by April 9 2020, in less than a month from now.

K Kesava Rao of TRS, Thota Seetharama Lakshmi of the TDP and Mohmmad Ali Khan and Subba Rama Reddy of the Congress are due for retirement on April 9.

All the four vacancies will go to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress and that would make his strength go to 6, a key number that is required for Narendra Modi and his BJP.

Much to the chagrin of Narendra Modi and BJP leadership, Jagan would be having another four members for Rajya Sabha by June 2022 and three more members by April 2024, till the time BJP required majority in the Upper House.

Given all these prospects in the number game, Jagan Mohan Reddy would be receiving a warm welcome from the Prime Minister in this visit.
